Rangleklods – lost u New music video revealed

The highly addictive new single ‘lost u’ from electronic Dutch duo Rangleklods’ forthcoming album straitjacket has been highlighted in past weeks by BBC Radio 1 and entered the German college Radio charts at #31. Now, leading up to their debut US performances at SXSW they add another layer to ‘lost u’ in the form of the official music video created by Cyan Studios.

The video which Vice Noisey calls ‘Scandinavian perfection”, was filmed in Berlin and depicts a young couple drifting apart and giving in to temptation. Rangleklods elaborates how the video came to life: “We wanted to capture the energy of the song by making this video hectic and chaotic. There are many different locations and a lot of movement, and we had some good friends acting in it which created a completely natural and ecstatic mood throughout the shootings. We like the rawness and sadness combined with beautiful moments between friends.”

Rangleklods sound and style has been compared by the media to that of Crystal Castles, Caibou and The Editors, and like those artists, the duo explore the darker side of electro pop while embracing sexy mid-tempo beats that combine techno, dark synth wave, punk, disco, indie pop, and shoe gaze.

“Lost U” is from straightjacket, their forthcoming sophomore album set for release this spring on Danish Indie tastemaker label Tambourhinoceros. The catchy electronic pop song unites the melancholy with an energetic momentum, which Line of Best Fit describes as, ” a bubbling dream-dance cut, encrusted with monolithic percussion and house hooks. There’s a whiff of Caribou lingering in the forward-thinking production, but not enough for the comparison to be your only thought.”

straitjacket is an 11-track album filled with 45 minutes of intense electronic music showcasing the many talents of Esben Nørskov Andersen and Pernille Smith-Sivertsen. Their playful, experimental approach to composing danceable yet thought-provoking music embraces both an astounding complexity in their productions and a sense of immediacy in their approach to songwriting.
On the self produced LP both Esben and Pernille sing lead vocals, and play all instruments.

The reputation of Rangleklods’ live shows has spread throughout the international music scene the past year, which has resulted in significant festival gigs all over Europe and has now lead to their debut performance at SXSW 2015.
