G Jones & Bleep Bloop drop first single from EP with Liquid Amber

Having both been featured previously on DJ Shadow’s Liquid Amber label, it was only natural for friends and frequent collaborators G Jones and Bleep Bloop to team up for their debut EP with the imprint. In anticipation of the ‘Mind’ EP (due November 3), the first single “Real” is now available for streaming. On this track, the duo was influenced by techno, exploring the minimal style and classic drum machine sounds of that space within a half-time, bass heavy format.

This duo have known each other and worked together sporadically over the last five years, but this is their first full collaborative EP release. Featuring the mysterious vibes and heavy backbeats we’ve come to expect from Liquid Amber, every track here is full of twists, turns, and erratic analog sounds.

“Our shared goal is just to make music that speaks to us, that we enjoy and are excited to play in our sets and release as an artistic statement,” says G Jones. “I think Aaron and I both have a “no rules” attitude about the music we’re making and like taking influence from what we like about all genres and creating whatever we want without thinking too hard about what genre box we can fit it in.”

These two Bay Area artists have been popping up everywhere lately in the bass music scene. G Jones scored a feature on Bassnectar’s latest #1 Billboard charting album, and Bleep Bloop’s tunes have been getting played out by artists like UZ and 12th Planet. In support of the EP, the two maverick producers will give audiences a rare treat by sharing the stage for a string of Canadian shows (plus one in Seattle) in December.
