Check out our exclusive interview with Coco Peri.
R&B Rhythms is here with Coco Peri, how’s it going?
Hey, very well thanks. Thanks for interviewing me.
Tell me a little bit about how you got your start in music and who are some of your musical influences.
Well I’ve always had a passion for writing poetry and music, but had trouble finding producers to work with me. One day my friend introduced me to her musician friend and in that first session we created ‘Incline’. That really boosted my confidence and made me feel like music was for me and I then began working with other producers. I have so many influences and they all appeal to different sides of my personslity. John Legend, Kali Uchis, Boby Marley, Alicia Keys, Jhene Aiko, SZA, Drake, Andre 3000, ASAP Rocky, so many to name.
Do you have any upcoming albums getting ready to release?
I plan to get back in the studio, but no plans to release any more projects just yet, I’m trying to get as much exposure as possible from ‘The Mixer’ and hopefully get an A&R or manager so I can then write for artists and hopefully one of my idols.
Do you have any more upcoming videos?
No at the moment, no. I’d love to bring out visuals but I’m just concentrating on the music and getting recognition.
What are your current thoughts on the music industry?
I feel like there’s alot of talent out there, a lot of underrated artists, but also alot of generic music and lack of originality. I definitely feel like UK music is on the map and we’re big on the scene right now and I think Drake remixing songs like Black Coffee -Superman and collaborating with UK artists has helped.
What is currently playing on your playlist musically?
Tiffany Gouche, Daniel Caesar, Kojo funds, Kranium, Jevon, Cardi B, Young M.A, Sean Paul, to name a few.
Do you have any shows or tour dates?
No, I’m an aspiring Songwriter not artist, so I don’t perform or having any intentions of doing shows.
What is your website information?
I don’t have a website but all my socials are @TheCocoPeri
Appreciate the interview, any last words or shout outs?
Just thanks for taking the time to interview me and watch this space because I have so much more to offer.
